California offers relief to those affected by earthquake

For the taxes that it administers, the California Employment Development Department (EDD) are offering relief to certain individuals and businesses affected by the August 24 Napa Valley earthquake. The relief applies to Napa, Solano, and Sonoma Counties. Employers in the three counties directly affected by the earthquake may request up to a 60-day extension of time from the EDD to file their state payroll reports and/or deposit state payroll taxes without penalty or interest. Written requests for extension must be received within 60 days from the original delinquent date of the payment or return to file/pay. The message can be viewed on the EDD website at http://www.edd.ca.gov/Payroll_Taxes/Emergency_and_Disaster_Assistance_for_Employers.htm.
