DOL seeks stakeholder input on “shaping smarter regulations”

The Department of Labor (DOL) has sent out an invitation to stakeholders to submit their input about which of the DOL’s regulations should be modified, streamlined, expanded, or repealed. To this end, the DOL has launched an interactive website, entitled “Shaping Smarter Regulations,” where stakeholders can make suggestions from now until Wednesday, April 1.

Some of the key questions identified in the invitation include:

• Which of the DOL’s regulations, guidance, or interpretations should be considered for review, expansion, or modification?
• What regulatory reforms may require short-term cost increases to regulated entities while creating longer-term savings, for example, through the adoption of new technologies?
• What regulations and reporting requirements should be reviewed due to conflicts, inconsistences, or duplication among our own subagencies or with other federal agencies?
• What other strategies exist for increasing the flexibility of regulations without limiting important protections? (www.dol.gov.)
