IRS grants tax relief to victims of severe storms, straight-line winds, and flooding in Illinois

The IRS has announced tax relief for taxpayers who reside or have a business in the federal disaster area of Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Fulton, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, McHenry and Will counties in Illinois affected by the severe storms, straight-line winds, and flooding that began on April 16, 2013. The relief extends until July 1, 2013 deadlines for filing most returns, including Form 5500, and paying taxes otherwise due during the period of April 16, 2013 and July 1, 2013. For employment and excise tax deposits due during the period of April 16, 2013 and May 1, 2013, the IRS will waive the failure to deposit penalties if such deposits were made by May 1, 2013.
