Minnesota discusses submission of W-2s and 1099s using e-Services

For corporate and personal income tax purposes, the Minnesota Department of Revenue has issued a release reminding taxpayers that beginning January 1, 2019, taxpayers will no longer be able to use the department’s Electronic Data Exchange system to submit W-2 and 1099 files. The Department has made enhancements to its e-Services system, and taxpayers may now use e-Services to upload EFW2 and IRS 1220 files. Taxpayers will also be able to file W-2c information electronically through e-Services later this year. Taxpayers only need to be registered in e-Services and no longer need an active withholding account to submit W-2 and 1099 information. Accordingly, the taxpayers are advised to sign up for e-Services or to contact the e-Services master to create a profile if the taxpayer’s business already uses e-Services. The full text of the release is available at http://www.revenue.state.mn.us/businesses/withholding/Pages/What-s-New.aspx. (Release, Minnesota Department of Revenue, August 14, 2018.)
