Minnesota revises specifications for electronically submitting W-2s

For personal income withholding tax purposes, the Minnesota Department of Revenue (DOR) has updated guidance that explains how to electronically submit W-2 information to the department using the Social Security Administration’s standard W-2 format called EFW2. An EFW2 file is technical and typically created through accounting/payroll software or custom programming. Taxpayers that do not have software or the programming capability should submit information using the Key and Send method or the Simple File format method. Third party bulk filers should submit W-2 information using the EFW2 file format. Finally, W-2 information must be submitted by February 28 each year.
