The latest Montana Tax News You Can Use reminds income tax practitioners and taxpayer that the Montana Department of Revenue (DOR) no longer accepts Forms W-2 and 1099 with masked identification numbers. The DOR requires that all social security and federal employer identification numbers on Forms W-2 and 1099 be complete and unmasked on paper forms. Taxpayers may file their Montana Disregarded Entity tax form electronically through the Montana TransAction Portal. Pass-through entities are required to withhold tax on behalf of owners who are nonresident individuals, estates, trusts, foreign C corporations, and other pass-through entities. Finally, the DOR reminds taxpayers that the new Form NOL is available at http://revenue.mt.gov/home/individuals. (Montana Tax News You Can Use, Montana Department of Revenue, January 19, 2017.)
