The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued proposed regulations on a number of policies related to the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), including provisions regarding Affordable Insurance Exchanges, also known as Health Insurance Marketplaces. Study finds fewer office visits, prescriptions with CDHP

Consumer-directed health plans (CDHP), designed to make employees make more cost-and health-conscious decisions, have been shown to reduce the long-term use of outpatient physician visits and prescription drugs, according to new research by the nonpartisan Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI). CMS issues guidance on state alternative applications for health coverage

The Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) has issued guidance on alternative applications that state-based marketplaces, as well as certain Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) agencies, may use in place of the model single, streamlined application for coverage that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued on April 30, 2013. PBGC issues rates for valuing lump-sum, annuity payments for July 2013; variable rates for June 2013

The PBGC has posted to its website the immediate interest rate for valuing lump-sum and annuity payments for July 2013 and the spot first, second, and third segment rates for determining the variable rate premium amount for premium payment years beginning in June 2013.
