ERIC calls for regulatory flexibility in implementing workplace wellness programs
The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) has submitted comments strongly encouraging the regulatory agencies overseeing wellness programs to support and ensure regulatory flexibility for incentive-based workplace wellness programs in order to allow these programs to expand and flourish. Health account balances resume growth, EBRI finds
After a slight drop during the recent recession, health savings accounts (HSAs) and health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs) are showing renewed growth, the average account balance increasing over the past two years, according to new research by the nonpartisan Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI). Ranking House health-related committee members submit comments on the proposed nondiscriminatory wellness programs rule
Six Democratic ranking members of committees and subcommittees with jurisdiction over health policy submitted comments to the Secretaries of the Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services in response to a proposed rule that was issued on November 26, 2012. For more information, see ¶2064M.
EBRI reports that workers are planning to work longer to keep health coverage
New research by the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) reveals that more than half (53%) of all workers surveyed say they intend to work longer than they would like in order to keep their health insurance at work. For more information, see ¶2064N.

IRS Voluntary Correction Program forms available
Fillable application forms and model submission documents are now available for use with Voluntary Correction Program (VCP) submissions made under the Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS). For more information, see ¶118W.
Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System changes subject of IRS phone forums
The IRS will be holding two sessions on February 21, 2013, to discuss Rev. Proc. 2013-12, which made various changes to the IRS correction programs that plan sponsors and practitioners can use to fix mistakes in retirement plans. For more information, see ¶118U.
