Seattle repeals head tax on big business

The Seattle City Council has repealed the $275 per employee head tax that it just passed in May. Under the previous ordinance, the annual tax amount was $275 per full-time equivalent employee in the city. The tax would have applied to businesses with more than $20 million of annual revenue in the city. The tax was to be effective from January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2023.(Seattle City Council Agenda Item CB 119280, passed 7-2, June 12, 2018.)
